I writing an essay on topic - "digital and physical - relationship between two worlds". The text bellow it the part of thinking my thinking about, which I would like to discuss.

Why digital is always cold? This theme could be proceeded through all culture. Digital devices is usually made from plastic, glass, glossy surfaces and metal. Why? Could we even imagine a felt laptop? A smartphone made from textile?

Even futuristic movies give us very strict, sharp and cold looking devices.

From the other side many people do not like this style. They trying to change the appearance of their devices with different accessories. This, I believe, is one of the reason Apple made their smart covers in different colors. To make device warm and more friendly. And also to differentiate ipads one from another, for sure.

Most devices are made from cold unnatural materials like aluminium, glossy plastic and glass. And most of the non-cheep cases are made from leather, textile or felt - a warm materials that remind us about handcrafted things.   This is fascinating.

And now interfaces are also trying to be cute and look familiar.

I guess it all started from the first digits on the first displays. It was quite square and non organic. Also, the future itself could not be cozy - it should be something that humanity only trying to achieve.
But now technology is definitely the big part of our life, and technologies had gone far from low-resolution displays and big pixels. Retina display and color e-ink technology could be a good example.

If our technology had gone so far - why should we hold to the old paradigms in the design?
