THE NEW DECOR

I remember that we visited this exhibition last year when we were on foundation course. It was the week of fine art and Ian said that we should visit it. Most of us made some notes which were included in to our sketchbooks, but I didn`t. That`s why today I`m trying to rethink that i have already seen before.

Well, THE NEW DECOR was exhibition which consist on works of 40 artist from 24 countries. The main idea of that exposition was to show how the concept of interior design is perceived in different countries by different cultures.

This work has been created by russian Artist Anna Jelud`. Author says that his work is studio space, where are transmuted motives of workshop interior. In her opinion on that exhibition all works were absurd and she tried to make something in the same way.

As for me. I guess i spent the most time in front of this exposition. Despite of the fact that it is interior of workshop it looks too minimalistic and impossibly clear.

This SOFT PROTECTION Russian version was created specially for this fair by another russian artist. It`s quite small on the image, but when i was near it was looked too fundamental and it`s no matter that all of those chairs were too old and fragile. Author said that found them on different places where were some fightings, collisions, etc. All of them were broken and artist if it`s possible to say reincarnated them. He closed those wounds from our eyes. Some magazines under the legs i connected with old "tradition" which allows you to achieve stability of the table, chair or cabinet. But the author has putted in to this wider information. This magazines somehow protect us from those wars. They allow us to read about it but not to be on this terrible place.

These swings look like as usual hammock but material which have been used are different from the normal one. Here we see a combinations of metal and leather. To prevent you from misunderstanding of this work i`ll tell you that author has wanted to show us. The idea is too see proportion between public and private places where are borders of these phenomenon and where they are mixed. Why i said about private places? Because those materials as metal and leather are usually used in private clubs. There are part of leather which can be connected with sex toys and metal ones which are connected with architecture. In this case I prefer to be inspired by their look and not to think about their idea.

This work has also been made by the same author who made the hammock. Ralph Rugoff. It`s not clearly seen that this bed is made using a barbed wire. Author consider that when people see some furniture they usually try to project themselves on it. As every bed in the world it`s for comfort. To lie on it of course. But this wire will hurt you. It`s all about that sometimes while we are at home we can't find a place in it and you can't feel that you are at home but alienated.

This work is one of those which can`t be appreciated. I didn`t understand the idea of it when I was there and I don`t understand it today, when I`ve already found information about author and his thoughts about it. In fact I guess that learn some rules of contemporary art. Everything that takes a lot of space looks more or less great whatever there`s an idea or not. We see how artist has used about seven hundreds of directory to make this exposition. And i have a lot of questions. I`m interested in the process. How he came to it. Why did he use bright red color. Why did he use this size of folders & this company there he had bought it. I`m also interested in your opinion about this work.

Here is the final exposition that i`ll tell you about. This chair has been damaged my a heavy stone. It appeared from nowhere like a meteorite from the sky. So you could imagine that force that has been drive this stone. I won`t tell you to much about it, just some keywords that you need to thing about. First - This is a classic european chair. Second - This exposition is called " Meteoritic falling to heaven.
